Local entrepreneur Kim Tinkam publishes a youth specific monthly magazine called “Wise Youth Today” www.wiseyouthtoday.com. It is the only publication of its kind and is currently offered in over 15 counties in North Texas.

I picked up my first copy of WYT three years ago and was simply amazed at the level of information that she was providing to local youth.

Two years ago, Kim asked me to write a legal column. It was a novel concept, but one that I believe is necessary. The decisions that kids make today can affect them throughout their life. The law should be accessible to everyone, both young and old.

Kim has put together an excellent group of columnists that provide youth-targeted information on everything from manners and medical to financial and local events. If you have not seen a copy of WYT, you can pick one up at just about every local business.

“Laying Down the Law”

The column that I write each month is designed to provide kids with information about the law so that they can make educated choices.

I also try to introduce a local law enforcement professional, so that kids get to see who is behind the badge.
